Canvas is a learning management system (LMS) that provides improved collaboration between students and teachers and a way for teachers to deliver media-rich lessons to students. SUHSD has adopted Canvas as a District-wide learning management system. Canvas licenses are available to all students and teachers who wish to use Canvas during the 2018-2019 school year.
Jupiter Grades is an online Grade Book program that also provides teachers with some LMS functionality. Like Canvas, Jupiter provides a school to home link, allowing students and parents to access grades, assignments, and teacher messages. All students and parents are encouraged to activate their Jupiter Grades user accounts.
NOTE TO PARENTS:
There are overlapping features between Canvas and Jupiter Grades. Some teachers will opt to use Jupiter Grades exclusively for the 2018-19 school year. Some teachers may use both Canvas and Jupiter. Your child’s teacher will communicate with you about what he/she is using. If your child has no teacher using Canvas, you do not need to activate a Canvas account for your child or sign up as an observer.
